Offered for sale is a Pre-1861-1865 French officers sword without scabbard. This sword could haven been used by either the North or the South in the American Civil War. It is 1855 dated and marked in French on the spine of the blade. The overall length of the sword is about 36 inches and the length of just the blade is about 30 inches. This sword saw some use. There is a period missing nick to the handle and the blade has several nicks to it and shows age and use. This sword is an excellent example of what could be called a possible battlefield used piece.
